Here are the Points to be Noted:
1.According to 1952 first forest policy forest should be cover 33.03% in India.
2.According to 2011 India state of forest report, forest area occupies 78.29million hectares it accounts for 23.81% of the total geographical area of India.
3.Madhya Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha states are covered under large forest (2011 report)
4.Madhya Pradesh is the largest forest state in India
5.Arunachal Pradesh second largest forest state in India.
6.Chhattisgarh third largest forest state.
7.Least forest state in India Haryana and Punjab.
8.Largest forest area union territory in India- Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
9.Least forest area union territory in India- Delhi
10.Mizoram tops the chart with 90.68% followed by Lakshadweep with 84.56%.
11.India has Lost 367 sq.km of forest
12.Andhra Pradesh state has lost the maximum forest cover.
